People say "Count Your Blessings." What are you thankful for? I'm thankful for God and my family. Without my family, I do not know where I would be. In celebration of Thanksgiving, I am so excited to share with you some interesting facts of one of my all-time favorite traditions of watching The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with my family.
1.) The first parade was 11/27/1924 and it was six miles long. It was first known as The Macy's Christmas Parade.
2.) It was aired on the radio for the first time in 1932.
3.) It was broadcasted for the first time on television in 1946.
4.) It was cancelled three times from the years 1942 to 1944 due to the shortage of helium and rubber from The War Effort.
5.) The first parade was like a circus. They had used zoo animals from The Central Park which scared some people. For future parades, the animals were replaced by balloons of characters that we know and love. It was a massive hit ever since.
6.) Tony Sarg was a puppeteer and the first person to fill the balloons in 1927.
I WISH EVERYONE A SAFE AND HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
